We don’t often have Brits for our Spotlight Spinsters, occasionally, but not often. But, where a woman hails from doesn’t matter, it’s what she does with her life. This month’s Spotlight Spinster, Michelle Dockery shows real grit in the roles she plays and in her life.
If Dockery’s name doesn’t ring a bell, maybe it would be better to refer to her as Lady Mary, the eldest daughter on Downtown Abbey who could manage to make you hate her and root for her all in one episode.
In the last couple of seasons, Michelle Dockery has been using her talents portraying a complex woman (a thief and a mom) on the TNT show Good Behavior.
“Laugh at yourself — a lot.
My mum taught me not to take myself too seriously.”
And now, she’s been transported back to a version of the Old West in the new Netflix drama, Godless where she plays a resident of an all-female New Mexico town. Michelle Dockery doesn’t just play women who face tough challenges, she’s done that in real life too. In 2015, her fiancé died of a brain tumor.
Life can be tough any day of the week, but enduring the loss of someone you love may be one of the toughest things to endure. But if Michelle Dockery’s roles tell us anything, she’s resilient enough to handle whatever life or Hollywood brings her.
Just our kind of woman!
