Wherever you are today and whoever you’re with, friends, family, or just you and Netflix, hope you are feeling thankful. With all that is going on in this country, day after terrible day and all that’s happening in the world, it would be easy to just give up.
Thank you can save us. Sure that might sound too simple, but studies have shown that gratitude can improve your health.
So, in between sips of that wine you picked up to go with the turkey (or tofurky) at your Friendsgiving give thanks for:
Whether you have a romantic partner or not, whether you’re surrounded by family or friends, give thanks for those who care for you. Not everyone has love in their life so whatever you have, be glad for it.
Feel like we’re all up to our necks in bad news? You’re not wrong, so if you can have a giggle or a full body guffaw even just once this year, that’s something to be thankful for. Hope that it was many more laughs than that especially if you’ve surrounded yourself with the right people.
On your Facebook feed or in your daily news alerts, it has probably felt like something is going wrong every day. Life can feel uncertain because of that and worry about what will happen next. So, give thanks for freedom, for your rights, and for whatever you did this year to resist.
So, that’s your thanks and now for the giving!
Even if it’s just a hug, a compliment on your mother’s great macaroni and cheese, or a ride to the store for your teenage cousin, give what you can.
Savor these good moments. Now go get into your eating pants and enjoy all that food!
